Good dental status is important for a healthy body. Many medical researches have found out that a serious dental problem called gum disease has a strong connection to other serious diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke and pneumonia. Gum disease can cause all these other problems if the bacteria from the gums get into the bloodstream, which carries them to the rest of the body. It is appealing thereof that you need to do more than brushing and flossing to prevent gum disease. Eating should follow proper diet. Foods that are high in calcium and Vitamin C and Vitamin D boost healthier gums and teeth. Try to avoid sugary foods as they can cause more bacteria to form. Remember to see your dentist twice a year. You should consider more frequent visits if you smoke, have gum disease or diabetes.
