Are Portable Water Filters better? Shouldn’t every person carry a Water Filter Bottle?
One of the most-cited reasons for drinking bottled water is “convenience.†Actually, “availability†might be a better word. Bottled water is available virtually everywhere you turn in your daily activities. Not only can you buy it in most service stations and convenience stores, you can get it in most office buildings, from either vending machines or a sandwich or snack shop. For this ready availability, you will pay at least twice as much as the same brand costs in volume at a discount store.
Consequently, if you refuse to pay double for bottled water wherever you are, you must take it with you. Here’s where the “convenience†factor wears very thin. First, you must load a case or more into your shopping cart. Then, you unload it at the cash register to pay for it. Again, you load it into the shopping cart, and push it to your car. Unload the shopping cart, load it into your car. Unload your car, carry it into the house. Unpack it and load it into the refrigerator. Grab a few bottles to take with you, and fight with them until you have finished the last one. “Convenience†is not descriptive of this process.
Therefore, if bottled water is not “convenient,†only “accessible,†there has to be a better alternative. Tap water tastes awful, which started the bottled water craze in the first place. How about “filter as you drink?†Buy an inexpensive water filter bottle, take it with you (empty, if you like) and fill or refill it when you like, where you happen to be at the time. Lots more convenience; lots more availability, even. And when you factor in economy, portable water filter bottles win hands down!
